Let me also add Rebol into the mix. To quote Carl Sassenrath... Every time I run across JSON examples, I see REBOL without the elegance. The two languages are related of course. REBOL strongly influenced the design of JSON. ref: On JSON

I think S-expressions would have been better. Alternatively Carl Sassenrath was pushing Rebol in the past. See his blog post "Was XML Flawed from the Start?" - http://www.rebol.com/article/0108.html Update:

Nope. * Some of the best languages for producing an internal DSL (dialects) don't have a "native MOP". For eg. Lisp, Rebol or Forth. * Python & Ruby don't have native MOP's anyway :) NB. I wonder what you mean

The full statement from the article was - Rebol and Red, whose open source implementations are still very immature To clarify this… 1) Rebol 2 is a very mature product. But while free to download & use it remains closed source with no

Yes that's correct. Atronix efforts have been towards producing 64-bit versions + the Linux GUI from the Saphiron code base (which was 32-bit and Windows GUI). Here's the Atronix announcement - http://rebol.info/

You can write more verbose regex using Named Capture Buffers. Here is an example I posted on HN not long ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6895126 NB. Follow link to original post to compare against standard reg

My first opensource creation was a port of Jim's wonderful Builder gem. Many thanks Jim for the inspiration you'll be sorely missed.

Having something like CL Condition System in Perl6 would be very nice! I've only seen the try/CATCH stuff. Are there any examples of restart/resume/continue handlers ala CL? BTW: Here's the Perl5 Condition Syste

It's only a surprise if you don't understand it. Every Perl programmer needs to fully grok and embrace it because it's a core language feature. For others, this is what EdwardDiego is referring to: my %hash = (a =>

And you can also do that in Perl: set_timeout sub { __SUB__->() if should_recurse(); }; NB. __SUB__ was added at Perl 5.16 and so requires either: use 5.016; # or newer use feature 'current_sub';

I prefer to counteract these potential bugs by locking the keys of a hash. For eg. in Perl: use Hash::Util 'lock_keys'; my %hash = (key1 => 'foo', key2 => 'bar', key3 => 'baz'); lo
