This is related to Typekit font loading, as outlined here: http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/6852-contro... We digged into it when it came up before, but I'll have another look and try to

Really can't reproduce this. Tried it at home and at coffee shops. If you have anymore debugging info feel free to send it my way (dan at medium dot com).

It was added to block referrers on unpublished drafts. We have been meaning to take it out for published posts, but for a couple of reasons it's not as trivial as flipping a flag. "break the web" is a little melodramatic though.

We (Medium) use async snippets for the few external scripts we load (KISS and GA) and our JS is deferred to the end of the document. Stylesheets and typekit fonts will block, though, unfortunately.

Not at all, we just hadn't noticed any problems. We use typekit so I can't think why it'd be an issue, but rest assured we'll look into it.

I didn't realize that old Android browsers don't support overflow:auto, I was trying to get rid of some fixed position elements to improve layout performance. Will fix. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2911

I'm a big fan of the novella format but also serial novels (Ender, GRRM, etc) so think this is really interesting. plympton.com are doing serialized fiction, you can get it on the Kindle, though I have yet to read any.

If I remember correctly, it was first discovered pretty soon after a version of Gecko was introduced with support for setters/getters, and Gecko had minority market share at that time. http://jeremiahgrossman.blogspot.com/2006/01/advanced-

Medium Dev here, this is our fault. We convert images to JPEG when sizing and cropping, this obviously doesn't work well for vector style graphics. We didn't want people to have to wait for a 500K PNG when a 60K JPEG would work for most ca

How about s/delete/archive, in gmail terminology (in other words, get it out of the inbox but have it still accessible in search). I don't see this as a usecase for spam prevention, as you said, but for informational messages, offers, or ac

Off the top of my head: Data types - Both concrete classes or helpers for manipulating data. Input Validation - Do it client-side to do it fast, but double check on the server. Formatting - Larger web apps often need to format things from d

I totally agree about the URLs. We decided not to launch with human readable URLs since we didn't want to deal with the namespacing issues right away. i.e. /user/post vs /collection/post vs just /post. I'm a huge fan of URLs as part of t

Gmail optimistically updates the UI in many cases, for example when starring a message or marking read/unread. Not doing so for send was a very conscious decision due to the severity of the failure cases. That said, work has been done to a
