The promise that was made was to go after the type of people you described - first . Not to stop after them. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgrnn8zxdego

I don't buy it. They failed to build a sustainable business model and are now suffering the consequences. Everybody is leaning into AI because it works (in the sense that it pays the bills). Saying the layoffs were because of AI offloa

This seems like the type of comment the parent comment is referring to. It's day 1 of the invasion. Why have you concluded the US is unable to put anything in the place of Venezuela's previous government?

There could be hope for it, but it might be too late now. I dumped tea on my M1 Macbook air earlier this year. I managed to save it - sort of. I had to replace the battery. The screen was working but also had liquid damage so I replaced it

I didn't know about <datalist>, but how are you supposed to use it with a non-trivial amount of items in the list? I don't see how this can be a replacement for javascript/XHR based autocomplete.

I'm not so sure this will happen. Existing models aren't being banned and DJI can continue to import and sell them.

I got an M1 Mac Mini somewhat recently as well, to replace my ~2012 Mac Mini that I use as a media center PC. And frankly, it's overkill. Used ones can be had for $200-$300 USD, lower side with cosmetic damage. An absolute steal, IMO.

> Running AI on your laptop is like playing Starcraft Remastered on the Xbox A great analogy because there is Starcraft for a console - Nintendo 64 - and it is quite awkward. Split-screen multiplayer included.

It's being downvoted because the commenter is asking for something that is already in the readme. Furthermore, it's ironic that the person raising such an issue is performing the same mistake as they are calling out - neglecting t

Huh? It says so right in the README. https://github.com/elitan/velo/blame/12712e26b18d0935bfb6c6e... And are we really doing this? Do we need to admit how every line of code was produced? Why? Are you expecti

This is my gripe with Postgres as well. Every time I see comments extolling the greatness of Postgres, I can't help but think "ah, that's a user, not a system administrator" and I think that's a completely fair judg

These are all pretty bad! I'm not on liquid glass yet, and am not looking forward to it. I'm actually a fan of the "reduce transparency" accessibility option. Hopefully it's sill available. The weirdest issue I'

I have not tried either myself, but I wanted to mention that Versity S3 Gateway looks good too. https://github.com/versity/versitygw I am also curious how Ceph S3 gateway compares to all of these.

The MacOs settings redesign really bothered me too. Maybe it's the 20+ years of muscle memory, or maybe the new one really is that bad, but I find myself clicking around excessively and eventually giving up and using search. I'm w

I used to have a similar dumb one (Roomba 860 if memory serves) and it would take the same path over and over again in certain corners of my house, which meant my carpet ended up with unsightly wheel tracks on it from the repetition. I don&

I was doing something similar just the other day and came across sqlite-s3vfs[0]. It is likewise a SQLite VFS that translates IO to S3 api calls. However, that project is only for python and seemingly abandoned. Additionally, if you want mo

If the LLMs of today can even produce a sizable C program that compiles, doesn't leak memory, doesn't exhibit UB, doesn't have any obvious vulnerabilities, and is correct, I would be astounded .

My company (Matterport, YC Winter '12) uses it to store metadata about 3d models. I really don't have that much to say about it because it's not my primary area of focus, and besides that, has been extremely reliable and hand

These are great. Some time ago I was tasked with writing installation tooling for a startup's data analysis product, which was built as a distributed system. The system used a SQL database to store metadata, so every host needed the SQ
