What about projects people made for fun and put it online because they're proud of it? It's also common advice to put your portfolio online. They really don't show up in internet searches as far I've seen.

Personally I use borg with BorgTUI ( https://github.com/dpbriggs/borgtui ) to schedule backups and manage sources/repositories. I'm quite pleased with the simplicity of it compared to some of the other solution

Four hours of time off in lieu (or money) for a noon to midnight shift on weekdays and eight hours on a weekend. It ends up being around a 10-15% bonus.

Not everyone has heard this advice or is in the audience for which it's important. Andreas' audience includes a lot of young people for which this is valuable.

Git has some really good ideas that are hard to translate into a good UI. There exists several companies that implement UIs for git that are great - Kraken, Github Desktop, etc. There's nothing better than magit but few people use emac

I wonder how the broken window fallacy plays into this. I would assume a healthy population is more productive than a diseased one. That effects healthcare profits though, so incentives aren't exactly aligned.

The child abuse, while awful, is independent of investing attitudes. An equivalent narrative could be spun in the opposite direction about "playing it safe as he did with his father's mood". The vast majority of investors don

I respect the principles but with all due respect I thibk you could do a lot of good by selling them and giving the money to charity. Most of the people buying crypto are speculators, let them fund charity.

In my admitted limited experience (small amounts at work and in personal projects) it's some integer multiplier. For routine code it's really nice. But for something more complicated it was distracting. Copilot had an opinion of w

Oh neat, I didn't know that existed. That's a combination of what I was trying to say above. If your for loop body is infallible then for_each is good enough. If you're trying to 'collect' some iterator into some da

Both iterator examples have alternatives where you don't need a for loop. Try using for_each and you can collect an iterator of results into a single Result<_> you can then early return with. Both of those are made cleaner by not

While that income sounds like a lot it doesn't stretch to buying a home every 3-5 years. Are you taking about getting a mortgage? I make more than that but it's unrealistic I'll be owning a fully paid off house in 3-5 years.
