In my experience the Nvidia driver support has been pretty painless (once you figure out the correct settings in configuration.nix of course), and the availability of packages is by far the best of any linux distro I've used.

I'm a big fan of lazygit. I would describe myself as highly competent in using the git cli, but lazygit just makes most common operations so much faster that I'd hate to go back to only using the cli.

I believe the goal is for stdlib packages to be added with 1.19 once they have some real-world use. For now they're in x/exp to allow changes before that release.

I think Steam gets a pass on that more than Apple/Google because Steam is just one of many avenues for selling a game on the PC whereas Apple has a monopoly on it and Google have an effective monopoly.
