This is an exhausting read. From the diminishing use of the word “rape” to the steam of conscious delivery to the blogspam cliches of hyperbole and exclamation. The malware installed by LG on Microsoft PCs and the spying by smart TVs are bo

See how freeing that is? You can just be honest about your beliefs and others can choose to engage or not based on that instead of playing some silly game of pretending that treating symptoms is a bad thing. It’s ironic that the current sec

MacOS has intentional holes in keyboard support. You have to go into settings and turn on a config for keyboard navigation to reach all elements. Apple intends for most users to navigate with a mouse. It’s in the accessibility settings. ht

Then don’t ask about whether the drugs cure the disease or just “bury it further”. Own your opinion and state clearly that you don’t believe depression is real. Don’t argue silly tangents that serve only to obfuscate your actual point.

Ok, Freud. You’ve successfully diagnosed the cause of Churchill’s chronic depression. Now what? What is your treatment given that you’ve identified the cause as a past childhood experience. You got a time machine? Or do you treat the diseas

I wonder if you feel the same about drug-based treatments for multiple sclerosis or ALS. Or hormone replacement therapy. Or palliative end of life care. Sometimes treating symptoms is what we can do because we don’t have a cure.

Come on. Don’t roll into a conversation playing armchair expert criticizing others’ contributions when you’ve got nothing of substance to say. You’re as capable of typing “causes of chronic depression” into a search bar as anyone else. The

This doesn’t hold up to even a little bit of critical right. This boils down to “models aren’t real because they don’t affect the real world”. By the same rule, thought itself isn’t real. It’s an abstract notion that has no concrete effects

You are doubtless correct that there is bias. (Literally your stated purpose of the movement is to counter this bias.) But with that said, these voices may be outliers, but they are by far the loudest. I’ve seen people claim that “obese” is

Is there any debate? Phenylephrine doesn’t work. This is pretty widely documented at this point. Manufacturers shoved it into formulas because the thing that did work could no longer be left on the shelf for consumers to grab. It’s unfort

I would imagine the sex itself isn’t super relevant in terms of exercise. But people who seek out medical treatment (or enhancement) likely take better care of themselves in general. But I would be surprised if there were not a measurable

Doctors are probably also less likely to look for other causes of chronic cough in smokers. In general doctors are looking for the most obvious potential causes of a health problem. If someone on high dose anabolic steroids went to the doct

We’re reaching further into the past than great great grandparents to get to the large families for farming but sure. Calling it a “fine” to have kids is really bizarre framing though.

I hope this weird redefinition of bike shedding doesn’t take off. It’s a useful and meaningful term and repurposing it to mean AI slop is negative value. Thankfully until this thread I’d never seen anyone use the term this way. > Can on

I don’t understand how LLMs make more stuff “bike sheddable”. What LLMs do is allow people to contribute low value garbage to all areas, but we have a word for that and it’s not “bike shedding”. It’s “slop”.
