You don't really need a distribution to measure tasks that are binary in nature though, why bother with a Likert scale when you can just use a yes/no checklist? I suspect there's also a high correlation between the jobs/

if your scale doesn't have the atomic values at the top end to differentiate the data it's not a normal, it's Pareto or Zipf or some other power law.

This is at best naive, and reads pretty smug and self-satisfied. You likely still have a military, and policing isn't really about the weapons a cop carries. Ironically less deadly weapons can encourage more liberal use, so maybe you c

this is a good example of how individuals are fine to do things for the public good when they are consequential or at least compatible with the things in their best interest. We're willing to self sacrifice only so (and not very) far,

Even in the literal sense of "owning" you don't need a majority, but yes - one share does have fractional power. I voted my 1000/<a very big number> just recently.

the entire ETF industry is based on either spending the distributions or reinvesting them, depending on which side of the curve your age lands on, so it's pretty much spending the index.

I'm now a soft-hands, academic-type but worked in a metal fabrication shop all through my schooling. Your read is very accurate. I still get her perspective though, because even as a male, white, straight, married guy in a shop full of

"Charitable interpretation" it seems like that is what's missing from the internet (and world) today. Extreme perspectives and no interpersonal relationships == not trust, no willingness to learn.

is this really true? With one side we can at least get something done and move on with are lives. Two extreme perspectives does not lead to finding a friendly middle ground, it just leaves us locked in a painful & unpleasant stasis.
