I put a PR up for zrok... :) https://github.com/anderspitman/awesome-tunneling/pull/82

Yes that's exactly correct. The underpinning of zrok is an OpenZiti overlay network. That network relies on a fabric of routers all meshed together. (self hosters would probably have _one_ router, but you get the point). Both ends atta

I said somewhere else in the comments I was working with a fella and he shared his vault instance with me via ngrok (zrok didn't exist at the time). So ngrok/zrok are great, dev-focused tools (p2p). (zrok might grow past being a g

We keep working on actual benchmarking but it's somewhat tricky to get reliable numbers... We're working on it now. Sometimes it's 'favorable' sometimes it's not. That's kind of a non-committal answer from

There's always a "root" of trust somewhere/somehow. Ideally it's a human that you trust. In the case of zrok, it uses a secure zero trust overlay provided by openziti. you "enabling" zrok in your shell is

Similar yes. Open source and self hostable are notable differences, but yep.

Not at this time. Right now zrok is for web (http) and file sharing. It's possible that sharing other UDP/TCP type sharing could be added in the future. Right now the overlay network (OpenZiti) would be able to support that right

I wouldn't think so tbh. Unless whatever editor you're using is sharing a web resource... In that case, sure. If you need/want UDP/TCP type sharing you could use the underlying OpenZiti overlay network for that, but out

Trying to keep it short, I would say OpenZiti is similar to zerotier moreso than zrok. This zrok tool though is closer to ngrok. I mentioned that in another comment so hopefully that's easy enough to find in the page.

Easily sharing local resources is a common need as a dev, for sure. If I'm making changes to a web form, updating online doc, etc. it's dreadfully convenient to just share that resource for some short amount of time... I've u

I am a dev on the OpenZiti project. I personally think Tailscale is more similar to OpenZiti. It's making wireguard administration really easy. zrok is very clearly based heavily on inspiration from the amazing tool called ngrok. If yo

A "dark webhook" in this case just means sending data from a public server/service like a GitHub action (or even an AWS Lambda) to a server that doesn't have a port open on the internet. For example, I get a message to m

one common use is the 'try/catch' mechanic. if a panic happens in go, and you want to be able to recover you'd use a defer. it's also used in the 'autoclosable' type way. It's easy when opening a reso

Yes for sure. But those non-technical, big company CTOs are going to be hiring people who need to be good at hiring people. Those are going to be your VPs of engineering types. THOSE people will be 'more technical' at that point.

There's a point when "technical enough" comes back into the picture. A gigantic company with 50k employees the CTO is barely relevant to any real tech decisions. They are tangentially related but not "in-the-weeds"

Nice! Sounds like OpenZiti is your next one to put on that list? We would __LOVE__ to have a third-party do any kind of performance testing like that and report the results. Good -- or bad! It's important to be transparent in things li
