I don't disagree with being inclusive, I disagree with the idea that grammatical details of how we speak have anything to do with inclusiveness. It's like if I start complaining that you use "their" to refer to a softwar

Wondering the same thing. Last few times I've seen someone ask "why is this on HN?" the answer is invariably "well HN isn't just about coding, anything that is interesting is acceptable", followed by a link to

If you don't mind me asking a follow up: How behind Ubuntu is Debian, and where can I read this information myself (i.e. is there an official list by either the Debian or the Ubuntu people that says "here's all the stuff that

Since I know nothing about your machine, that response doesn't really tell me anything. My laptop has 2 cores and 5GB ram. But bigger picture my point was: Lubuntu's focus has changed, so it's not for me any more.

As a counter-point to the above commenter, I'm someone who's in an adjacent industry (HFT) and to me personally spending time on pretty pictures is a turn off. So I guess the take away is: know your audience. I really really enjoy

No, you're mistaken. A _prediction_ was made and matches experiment, therefore the _prediction_ was proven correct. I believe you're repeating the idea that "_theories_ aren't proven correct, you can only ever fail to fa

When I wrote that, I had in mind the observation about continued recalculation of buffer len. My suggestion has no such thing. It looks so good that I imagine this was probably how it was intended to be used. With that in mind, isn't i
