Meanwhile as Android continues to gain marketshare and developers, more and more Java developers will have to ignore Java 7 and Java 8 features, to maximize chances of code reuse since Android is indefinitely stuck on Java 6.

I would argue Steve Jobs is a "hacker" more than most people here. He knew how to add circuits to modify games when he worked at Atari. Most people here can't do that, let alone design and ship a classic game like Breakout. http://classicg

After years of being the butt of jokes about 'Start'-ing your computer to shut it off, Microsoft wanted to vindicate its decision by showing it is indeed possible to do something even dumber.

Huh? So 2/3 of pre-selected "Creative People" (not defined) effectively said no. What does that mean about the other 1/3? And what about "Non-Creative People"? Maybe 2/3 of productive people also don't have time and would say no? Assume not

Alternatively, you can look at using X.509 certificates. Most of the major and commercial dedicated email clients support this (even the one on iPhone). Though you are SOL if you use GMail's web browser interface. You may need to pay for ce

Ironic title. The parallels people are trying to draw are not from Apple, but from NeXT. But Canonical would be wise to notice that even NeXT found specific markets to target to become profitable.

Lua IS a register based machine. The white paper done by the Lua authors is the reason most of the industry has moved to register based machines. (Apple SquirrelFish for Safari was the first to read it and implement it and everybody followe

Or get a Mac. No need to install 3rd party software. Built in Preview and PDFKit handle PDF needs. Run Safari with the iPad User Agent string and most websites figure out what to do without Flash. Java can still be a stumbling block.

Sounds reasonable. And with that, it's hard to extrapolate useful and fair conclusions. Since Humble Bundle purchases can't work towards iOS unlike Android, that ignores a huge market segment.

Too much cherry picking and revisionist history in this article. Some examples: Google Desktop: You sure it wasn't Apple who asked that question way back in 2004 and introduced Spotlight in OS X 10.4, way before Google Desktop? Smart People

No. I am an Apple dev. At least publicly, this never happened. But Intel did have a presence at WWDC when the Intel switch announcement was made. Intel was trying to sell developers licenses to the Intel compiler (as they should).

However, having two brands confuses consumers. Doesn't hold true. "Microsoft" had no problems with users being confused by "Windows". People went out of their way to make sure to buy PCs installed with Windows from Dell, HP, etc.
