> True, but you're using so many abstractions that the rule can't feasibly be "read a short summary of every abstraction you're using." Rule - no. Goal - yes. Some topics are more stable and valuable then others,

One topic at high level (like in the article, 10-20 minutes?) per week, results in ~50 topics per year. Not sure how many computer related topics you know/want (“The more you know, the more you know you don't know”), but for me, 5

Databases always try to flush something to disk after transaction, just in case unexpected reboot happens. So your writes to db have direct correlation to disk writes. Choice of db schema impacts physical layout on ssd. E.g. Different table

“don't need to know anything about it” is acceptable, but should not be encouraged. It’s not like reading 10 bullet points on the subject is “diving deep” and making huge time investment. It’s just getting the minimal context, so later

You are right. Add to that, the constant and persistent info flow from russian media and incentives to “say the right things”, which raised whole generation.

> the war should end asap, no matter who wins One part of me agrees with this. War is the worst (as far as i know from books and tv). The other part of me thinks: That is how Germany expanded half a century ago, getting resources for ww2

Nice example. Economics almost by definition can not make good predictions wanted by the public, because as soon you figure out precise model “a” of the economy, the economy takes the model “a” into account and mutates to model “b”.

What kind of precision of prediction is required? Economics predict some things. For example if you print exceedingly a lot moneys, inflation will happen. At the same time, physicists have problem telling precise location and momentum of th

Even if hoarded at the moment, energy spent mining the gold was not lost. Gold can be sold tomorrow for its practical uses. Energy powering Bitcoin transactions is gone. (Like the the energy powering bank servers)

Why? I sense assumption that decency at the top is required for society to function. Counterpoints would be (sadly): a. most of the history is wars. b. Slavery was a norm for a very very long time. c. North Korea.

Couple of comments replied mentioning studies in this area, and you dismiss them completely (i.e. you show no indication of any value assigned on points made). Seems like you have very strong beliefs/faith/stake in using antibioti

You’ve miss-interpreted the reason for minuses. The disagreement is with implying that both sides of war are equal. While there are no saints, only one of them chose to start the waste (see also: Chechnya, Georgia)

Just some notes. It was a flagship of black sea fleet. It had crew of approx 500. After the event, russian ships started keeping greater distance from Ukraine.

“Yanukovic was ousted by force”, does not describe the situation. Yanukovic tried silencing protesters using force, but they didn’t surrender.

1. Attack puzzle has more clearly defined solution. 2. There is no difference between attack puzzle and defence puzzle, in the sense that mentally you must play both sides - choose optimal moves for the defender.

No idea about Libya situation, but in Europe, people wanting side with the west is very natural choice. Please compare Ukraine’s or Belarus or Moldova’s situation (politic/democracy and economic) with any EU country bordering Russia.
