The article is interesting but not for the face value. On the surface, the comparison is rather weak because it is comparing loops in a dynamic language to optimized, low-level vector operations. Which is, you know, "whoa, low-level ha

IMHO this is a PR move through and through. The TL;DR for me is "tax us; LOL JK my money is on the Caymans".

This looks quite nice! I had a look at the content overview and I was missing any operations considerations. While one might have the comfort of somebody doing the DevOps for them, many people will need to do that themselves. Any plans on t

Scala 2 and 3 are fundamentally the same language, which weakens the comparability to Perl5 => Perl6. The compiler is new and tooling will change but they do ensure Dotty can handle Scala 2 artifacts. Scala already doesn't offer bin

The official announcement is quite an understatement. This release is big, especially the changes to the collections standard library and compiler performance will have a lot of positive impact overall. Now onto 2.14 and Scala 3!

I understood this but I have an EE background. I feel like it would be still quite difficult to follow even for self-taught makers because some concepts were missing entirely, like the basic function of the transistors he's constantly

Ubuntu Java packages are a joke as well and I stopped using them when I was having issues with the OpenJDK-11 package from apt. It turned out the the package wasn't packaging Java 11, but Java 10 instead, with a fake name [0]. I didn&#

Op here: I realize this is a very, very small, even simplistic, example and it possibly misses all the important details. It was, in any case, a quick and easy process that I wanted to share.

I've done a fair bit of C++11 for CUDA and I was so happy to throw everything out and switch to Numba. It has some rough edges (like incomprehensible error messages when the type inference goes wrong) but it's been a pleasure over

Funny to see caddy here, since they are already offering commercial licenses. EDIT: In fact, commercial use is only available via the commercial license, even if a company decides to build their own binaries.
