Often dates are extremely relevant, for example a 10 year old hardware review won't be as relevant as a new one. On the other hand, blogs don:t have to be static, some programing technique might still be relevant, but need to be update

This opens the door for bad incentivization, I'd be afraid people optimize for what pays better, be it more small commits, fewer larger commits etc...

Which was my point when I said I feel the world is wasting a huge amount of memory. It feels like a step backwards.

In the era of static linking (golang, rust), sure, why not. These days getting dependencies and the right version of the runtime is considered a harder problem. I personally feel like the world is wasting a huge amount of memory because of

This always felt weird to me given that Python does a good job with dict: d = {} assert(d.get("blah"), None) I was impressed by Rust the first time I run into: let mut last; for i in &[1, 2, 3] {

In the early days of nginx non-russian doc was a link to Google translate, and that was good enough, it worked fine for everybody. How do you think non-english speakers read documentation in english?

The one thing I miss from CyanogenMod: keyboard key orders scrambled for each use. I wish LineageOS and stock Android added that feature.

True for workstations, but most services are running on VMs these days. OS shouldn't need blobs to run on VMs.

The point some of us are trying to make here is that K&R works for some learning styles but not others. It's definitely not universal.

That's an interesting comparison. K&R did nothing for me, I honestly did not understand C until I read Harbison & Steele.

Do you use a multiplatform shared storage service (dropbox, pcloud, etc...)? Do you spend a lot of time in a specific editor? If so, consolidate those text files into one folder, and use your editor. The only issue will then be editing them

I came up and added that functionality. I spent many years as a UNIX sysadmin, everything was a `man` page away, including C libraries. I've done a lot of python over the past 7 years and used `pydoc` constantly. The inspiration for th

I needed to upgrade my x220. The newer X series is almost as big as the T series, and is really limited in terms of memory. I ended up getting a T480 which is nice at home, but too big on the road. I looked really hard at System76, but I ne
