A lot of people on my circles have moved to Signal, and we do short video calls.

I love a small phone but I need the front cam for quick video calls. Front camera, 3mm headset jack are must for me. If I could get a notification LED too... You might be able to get a lot of money out of me!

FYI, you link to https://bpesquet.fr/ both on that page and on your HN profile but your server isn't listening on https/443 (works on http/80).

I'll take the lack of space from 3.5mm jack inside the phone over the headaches and awkwardness of an external device (which now I also have to pay for)!

And yet you regularly hear of child porn cases in the US because a 17 year old girl sent pictures of her nude body to her 18 year old boyfriend.

The "citizens", the people who could vote, did pretty well. Not surprisingly, laws were not so good for slaves and other non-citizens, laws were not good for the people who could not vote. Look how favourable our current laws are

Then specialists will explain that to be able to spend this, other budgets will have to be cut, like healthcare. If people are stupid and we need to be ruled by elites, then why do we have democracies? Why popular vote? Shouldn't we ha

Yes. I want specialists debate ideas out in the open, not politicians forging stronger alliances to support parties of heterogeneous agendas.

I'm outside the US, but I see similar issues everywhere. I think it's time modern democracies stoped having "representative of the people" voting on laws. Laws should be considered each on their own value, and everybody

I remember when PowerToy was the only to get focus-follow-mouse, before you could do that in the registry. This was magic! It made Windows half usable. These days, when IT spends so much effort to make working difficult, and castrate Window

I write every page in the English and French wikipedia. I run in the deletion problem only in the English Wikipedia, the pages in French are still up.

No. I try to add wikipedia for Open Source Software that are used in many places but that aren't giant and not well known outside of tech circles, and they get deleted, typically for lack of noteriety or not enough external references,

That has not been my experience with stripes. Things got way better once I did a quick pass On an "Arkansas" stone before each use, but I still need to use something coarser once a month or so.

How often do you use which stone? Like 1200 before every shave? 800 once a week? Etc...? Do you ever need to go back to a coarser one? Do you ever re-flatten your stones, or buy new ones? How often?

At the end of the day, credibility is a trust issue, and in the Photoshop era I don't think having the right header and the right formatting add much to the credibility.

I did not know about E cores and P cores on the M1. Looking into it, I found Intel is doing the same thing on their newer, 12th generation CPUs.

Exactly. Another one is to calculate how many weekends you have left, fill a jar with that many marbles, and throw away a marble every week. This will make you be more deliberate with what you do with each weekend, even a lazy do-nothing-co

It baffles my mind the length companies who run Linux in PROD will go to NOT provide Linux to their devs and how much effort is put into making Windows and macOS to LOOK LIKE Linux. Common put half as much effort to make Linux work with wha

The same was true in the west, but it was codified by religions. We let go of both the bad and the good parts as we shrinked or eliminated the roles of religions in society, often without replacing them.

That's part of why societies have, or used to have, codified mourning time. Give enough space to let you sink in the emotion, but then draw a line in the sand and get back on with life.
