If you really only have time for one interview wouldn't you want to pick the candidate you're most likely to hire? So wouldn't you take a closer look at the resumes and not the names?

I wonder how much of it is really bias or people perceiving bias. I know people who think that if they read something negative about a political figure they like then the person and publication who wrote it are automatically biased in favor

I have looked into this before and one thing I noticed is that the videos with the creepiest comments tend to be reposts. The videos that actually belong to the kids and families who posted them often have their comments disabled. Perhaps Y

It's a fine analogy used in the way they used it. Drawing attention to yourself for a decision you know is going to be controversial only makes it more controversial and draws out even louder criticism.

My father was an airline pilot for years (American, US Airways, and then Etihad) flying domestically and then internationally. I'd guess that if the airlines wanted to reduce pilot hours the pilot unions would have a lot to say about t

Though I do agree with the a lot of what you're saying it does seems like what you are suggesting is that had the regulations worked "as they should" then we could have always prevented accidents like this. I'm not sure

If they ever make a change that badly affects RedReader it'll be over for me. I love that app and I have a pretty solid reddit experience with it.

You're being downvoted for this but I suspect you're right. The people we're talking about aren't literally random people. They're people who switched to Fiber in the first place.

Yeah this is exactly my point. Fiber is a competing service in every market it serves. Customers do have a choice. Now unfortunately they do not but and they're just going back to the way things were.

China could learn something from China on this. See their draconian punishments for drug offenses.

I'm not sure I can cosign the cynicism toward google in the particular instance. I am a Fiber customer in Austin and I've always been under the impression that this essentially an experiment and that it likely wont be around forev

Pretty slimy. Even if the user had said something really nasty on reddit about the product revoking their license is a pretty ridiculous and petty thing to do.

As a long time reddit user I actually find the product to be borderline unusable without an account. There's so much noise and the account features allow you to focus in on what you want to hear. I've never used the official reddi

I once worked at a walmart florida as an associate in the store getting paid crap hourly and they paid out my vacation time when I quit. I didn't even know that was a thing at that point in my life and was shocked by the extra money. T

My whole family was on ICQ when I was a kid. This may not actually be true but my understanding back then was that ICQ was pretty popular internationally (most of my family lives outside of the US).

Man. I feel bad for the employees. They probably thought getting bought by a big company like Ford meant they would stick around for a while.

I asked this the last time one of these posts came up and everyone suggested I check out https://www.home-assistant.io/ I haven't started building anything yet but I will in the new year (fingers crossed).

The war ended in 1975, 43 years ago. So if you fled the war then and were an adult you're quite old now. If you're still of working age (like the people you reference here) that means you were likely a child when you left the coun

This reminds me of an anecdote from Liar's Poker where the writer talks about how not even the oil traders understood what caused the price of oil to move and so they'd just make up outlandish stories about the Saudis.
