In my experience, any interface that does not directly conform to the underlying technology is going to increase the amount of work (aka complexity). And typically, the reason why one interface is simpler than the other is because instead o

You could try to get published or get similar field-specific attention by making some advancement in the field.

First of all, this is great. I'll definitely be using it on a regular basis for public transit and 'taxi' rides. Second, I love that you have bike directions too. BUT, the bike directions seem to be car directions when you hit the link to g

Seems pretty simple to me. Put one of those info banners at the top of everyone's Facebook feed (like they did to say "I voted" during the election) that gives you the option of either opting-in to ads (and ads to friends) or paying a fee t

In response to determining an unnatural movement and/or an unauthorized user wearing the HMD, the wearable computer triggers a locking mechanism, which can beneficially provide security measures for the wearable computer. So next time tha

Exactly. When I graduated college, my plan was to live in different countries and work for a couple years, then move on to the next adventure. With visa issues, it seems the only way to do this is to run your own company, but even then you'

Maybe they're speechless from the government and RIAA getting away with such a blatant violation of one's civil liberties. I hope this goes to trail so that the site owners are compensated and so that this never happens again. Shame on the

I think he's getting this idea from Asian countries where their payment information is linked to their phones, so that they can make purchases with the swipe of their mobile device. I think we're heading in this direction. Google Wallet is

Use Facebook-authenticated comments. Requiring people to use their real names usually alleviates this kind of problem.

This is one of the reasons I didn't pursue a PhD after getting a Masters. Getting published is about very incremental work. Really breaking the mold for revolutionary stuff is actually shunned. Not the kind of reward system worth pursing.

I love these stories on HN about travelers supporting themselves through entrepreneurial means. It gives me inspiration to do it myself.

I signed up at the bottom of that page, but I don't know how you're distinguishing students from teachers from developers in that signup form. I'm a developer that would like to checkout the API, assuming you have some data in it already.

And the kicker: The AMI you suggest qualifies as free for a year with a new AWS account. Free hosting for a year to play around with Node. Thanks a lot!

I would love to hear an answer to this. CarFax had invalid information on my car, and it is a bitch to try and change it. I nearly took a loss on my car because of it. There needs to be a better solution.
