I don't understand the threat model being attacked here. If you had physical DRAM access you could do all of this anyway right? And I would assume that an unprivileged user would not have write access to the DRAM controller registers?

Technically true, but the counter argument would be that the probability of this working would be ~ 2^(-(entropy_of_leap)) for an LLM (presumably intractable) and a human would succeed at a higher probability.

Completely agreed, but in fairness to the c++ standards committee, this is solved from a standards perspective by c++ modules

Networking, GUI frameworks, and MIDI are presumably all self-contained and you would not need to be familiar with them except when working on networking, GUIs, or MIDI files, respectively. This is a general-purpose thing that could show up

It's going to be a much more granular detail than all of crime. If your job is to investigate counterfeited 27B-6 forms, you are going to be threatened by that form moving to being filed digitally with cryptographic signatures.

If you were to implement your own realloc for the purpose of this data structure, you could do that. However, a generic realloc implementation needs to know how many bytes to copy, and generally that means storing the capacity just in front

Strictly speaking, the capacity is still stored internally to the allocation (it needs to be, in order to implement realloc)
