Yes, I understand that. Let me play the game as much as I want without enforced delays, without having to pay a recurring subscription price. I'll gladly pay a one-time cost for that.

Wow, the original DropZap was one of my favorite iOS games ever! I was able to keep playing it for years after the final release, because I didn't upgrade my phone for a long time. By the time I stopped playing I was #1 or #2 on most o

My favorite Asteroids clone was a game for the Macintosh in the 90s that featured hemispherical rocks, titled "HemiRoids". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_Llp_jHv1c

I miss the days of Kaleidoscope. I even created a couple of themes myself; the one I'm proudest of is Crayon OS: https://macthemes.garden/themes/a83c1d81e770-crayon-os/

From the last paragraph of the article, it's availabile in Microsoft Office. It seems that they're not distributing it separately.

How come after you roll but before you move, the Strokes value at the top shows the current roll value instead of the stroke count? Is this a bug?

To be fair, the curl license doesn't mention "curl" anywhere in it. It seems reasonable for someone to interpret "this software" as referring to the software product that includes the license.

Neat, but the "Diffictulty" slider is a bit of a misnomer, IMHO. Puzzles with more pieces just take longer. I'm not sure what would be a better label, though. (If I were feeling uncharitable, I would propose "Tedium"

Peeve of mine: blog posts that lack a date stamp. The only date appearing anywhere in the article is at the bottom, where it says "Last modified: August 29, 2024." So for all I knew it was a brand new post, until this comment. How

Genuinely curious as to why this was submitted to HN, and even more so why it made it to the front page. Was it written by an AI, and is being showcased as an example of such? As a good example, or a poor one, in terms of resulting quality?

Well, it's not really about the UX. My purpose for using a feed aggregator is to keep up with blogs that I want to read, not to replace the sites on which I read them.

...But I don't want to read blogs in my feed reader. I always click the permalink to read the post at its original source. What's the purpose of forcing me to endure my reader's inferior UX?

Sounds to me like you're no longer interested in playing games, where a "game" is something that has formal rules, mechanics, and physical equipment. You'd rather just sit around a campfire and tell stories. Which is of

Selling hardware at negative margins is not a "necessary" evil; it's just a business model that some manufacturers choose to impose on consumers, and then we end up with things like DRM-encumbered printer ink cartridges.
