That article cites 'shootingtracker.com' as a source, which is a known-false propaganda site, as it includes accidents with airsoft guns in their list of "mass shootings". I have been shot by an airsoft gun. It stung a b

GPG has a massive "last mile" problem. I suspect that people would gladly accept the ability to send and receive encrypted, signed emails, but the hassle factor of getting set up is simply too high.

That really is the case. Completely asinine, but if you are a public figure, the masses can be shockingly awful. There is an interesting article where Penn and Teller compare their rather large influx of death threats with Richard Dawkins

While I haven't exactly conducted an in-depth study, dang seems to have a fairly even hand when it comes to moderation. HN, after all, should be about building stuff, not the outrage du jour.

This is a response to you, and not a commentary on what's happening at Reddit right now. The ACLU would disagree. One of their landmark cases involved defending the constitutional right of a group of Nazis to hold a peaceful demonstrat

A number of reasons that form an important lesson in sales at the enterprise level: 1. Oracle does provide value. They have clustering and high-availability offerings that Postgres just can't touch, and those come with service and su

While that's likely part of it, that's not the entirety of things. To be fair, I would wager that fatpeoplehate had its share of trolls, but I would definitely believe that the vast majority of its denizens were former fat people,

Damnit, I just wrote a sweet gem that handles this... ah, okay, but it requires an index constraint, whereas I needed to merge on arbitrary conditions. So I didn't totally waste my time. Way to go Postgres team!

This looks seriously useful, but I'm having a hard time seeing how something like Relay will play ball with, say, vector clocks, or client-side undo, as it sounds fairly welded to the Component. Maybe the idea is to do that all on the
