If I didn't need CUDA support, I'd be on FreeBSD all the way. No systemd, built-in "containers" before they were cool, basically just good 'ole UNIX.

I'd love to see open-source firmware / hardware that can slot into existing inkjet or laser printers, if only to remove the tracking dots added by all printers since the mid-to-late 2000s, but also because I'm sure the hardwa

I can think of a couple of factors. One, there's a big urban/non-urban split in American culture. The former are far less likely to know anything about working on cars, nor are they likely to have a friend or uncle that can help.

True across the board, and unfortunately the average lifestyle promoted here on HN is one of massive, unavoidable stress, both inside and outside of work. Fixing your diet is one of those sort of flywheel problems. It takes time to figure o

Last year, less than 9,000 foreigners naturalized into a population of 123 million. In order to naturalize, you must present a compelling case to do so: you must speak, read, and write Japanese to the level required by compulsory education,

This fits with my experience living in SF: people might look different, but if you were to be blindfolded and talk to a group of them, you would struggle mightily to pick out any substantial differences between individuals.
