No solid information on that third generation https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-12th-gen-Alder-Lake-S-wi... I just bought a 12400 mostly because it was 15% cheaper than the 5600x and it comes with an iGPU. You're rig

Currently, AMD is more expensive for the same performance. Also, the AM4 socket is at the end of its life. Intel’s LGA 1700 is expected to be used for two more CPU generations, so there’s an upgrade path.

I don’t know that it’s a good tradeoff. ARM64 has fixed length instructions with decent density and has proven to allow highly parallel decoding.

It’s nice to have an open ISA, don’t get me wrong. However, trade offs matter. Compressing instructions may improve density, but it makes them variable length. This is a big barrier to decoding in parallel, which is very important to high p

I’m from one of those poor countries. In case it wasn’t clear, I’m for ending the profit motive. I want us to produce for need instead.

Due to the vast difference in wages, astonishing amounts of profit have been made from the super-exploitation of workers in poor countries. Other arrangements are possible, but this is the tendency we see now with production motivated by pr

Exactly like the BBC, yes. Wikipedia portrays it differently, I wonder why.

It’s just like an MOT in the UK, or the periodic checks in most countries for that matter. The car is exempt for the first few years, then gets checked yearly. Most cars pass with few, if any, repairs.

I agree that it's not ineffectual. It's very effective at imposing austerity, privatisation and deregulation, especially on the periphery countries. It's also effective at encouraging foreign ownership of industry and exploit

Works great in Rust, but almost everything is an expression there. I sadly don’t see it getting added to Go.

Very good game, indeed. Clearly in the same tradition as System/Bio Shock.

You’re not wrong, but I think that’s an argument for regulating the maximum usury rates for all such platforms.

Interesting (and a bit surprising) that the cranelift backend keeps up with LLVM backend reasonably well, especially with parallelism enabled https://github.com/ezrosent/frawk/blob/master/info/perfor

The picture you provided looks much worse, though. Quite noisy and I can see pixels. I suppose the real problem is that it's too difficult to provide appropriately-sized images for different user agents.
