I haven’t caught it happening, at least not so far. I have my domain pointed at Apple Mail, though. That probably helps.

The first step is to get your own domain. You can set that up in Apple Mail at first if it’s most convenient. Then you can get everything moved over. After that it’s much easier to move provider again.

It wasn’t a prediction, but a defence of investment if fossil fuels.

It’s pretty good, I run this on my little server.

Same. I’ve only had to do it with the YouTube app, which does suck.

It depends how much electricity costs where you live. I’m quite pleased mine idles at ~15W.

Sounds to me like you’re describing effective but imperfect policy on the part of the PRC. That seems pretty good to me.

Same as IBM’s ethical considerations when selling to the Nazis. This isn’t new behaviour.

I’ve seen in segfault once. I don’t know how common that is, but it would be nice to make that less likely.

Surely retro hardware is fine with retro software.

There is no other ML-like that is as low level. Except perhaps ATS, which has terrible syntax.

This will be the case in any language with both generics and type inference. It's nothing to do specifically with Rust.

It seems silly to say that it has no tests. If I had to pick between unit and integration tests, I'd pick integration tests every time.

Goroutines could've lacked shared memory by default, requiring you to explicitly pass in pointers to shared things. That would've significantly encouraged sharing memory by communicating. The opposite default encourages the opposi

Goroutines aren't posix threads. They could've lacked shared memory by default, which could be enforced by a combination of the compiler and runtime like with Erlang.

Go's creators said "Don't communicate by sharing memory", but then designed goroutines to do exactly that. It's quite hard to not share memory by accident, actually. It's not like it's a disaster, but it&#

Which they then failed to follow, especially since goroutines share memory with each other.

It’s not a great term, there is a small and shrinking proportion of GNU in most distros. Things like systemd or Wayland are far more important.

It should probably have a different name. But nil panics in Go are even easier, the compiler doesn’t even require you to opt in. I deal with that every day.

The same case in Go would’ve probably been a nil panic.

OpenGL cannot achieve the control over modern hardware necessary to get competitive performance. Even in terms of CPU overhead it’s very limiting. Direct3D (and Mantle) had been offering lower level access for years, Vulkan was absolutely n

WebGPU is in many ways closer to Metal than to Vulkan. You can use the API outside of the browser too, especially in Rust.

Games take years to make, as a consumer you’re seeing results from the past. Most indie studios are doing poorly, I know several that have closed and many friends looking for work.

It makes AM5 less attractive and AM4 better value relatively. This situation will end eventually, of course.

Yes, due to DDR5 prices going up after a period of people upgrading to AM5. There is currently a lot of second hand AM4 DDR4 stock, making the value particularly good. FWIW I recently upgraded and ended up getting something else, but mostly

Some don’t already have a build. AM4 has high end gaming CPUs available and there are not yet major limitations besides future upgrades. AM4 parts probably makes the best value gaming build you can get right now.

I don’t know if the two companies have such different futures. The games industry as a whole is in potentially terminal decline, have you seen all of the redundancies lately?
