I have to agree w/Sephr. No need for javascript and, if copy of image packing info is sent to image packing server at the same time, final image should be ready to serve by the time client requests it.

I doubt anything one has to pay for could be a 'human right' but, if so, my bet is on '3 meals a day' becoming a human right before 'internet access' does.

Right. If employees of Apple gets certificates with O = "Apple" and OU = "Engineering" which maps to a red apple badge on their robot's body and a gear mark on the arm, people could potentially learn to 'parse' that at a glance. Everywhere

[didn't find a reply link to your more recent comment so I'll reply here] I think an interesting way to apply identicon to certs is to map each cert attributes to an 'attribute' of identicon, visualizing attributes.

Robohash looks great. As the 'inventor' of Identicon, I've been meaning to revisit the subject with animal (identimal) or robot (identibot) themes in mind so it's nice to see your rendition of the later. Well done, sir.

Forget about DMCA and other excuses. Dropship-like hacks could have huge negative impact on Dropbox business model. I can't fault them for taking actions to protect their business.

Some thoughts re WoW vs banks: WoW Authenticator is optional, costs $30~40, and intended for serious WoW players in a community with very strong peer support. Banks can do first two but don't have a community of tech savvy users to reduce c

Three points: 1. Sensationalism aside, Dropbox should review questionable security claims to reduce false sense of security if any. With millions of users, careless words formed out of marketing needs are no longer needed. What Dropbox user

Dependency injection separates discovery from dependency. It's neither good nor bad but can be useful as well as abused beyond ad nauseum. End of story.

All great except I can't fathom the decision to go with a wacky name like Couchbase when they already have a great name: Membase.

Ignoring UI and UX issues, I think the CSS editor could be a lot more useful as a training tool if it displayed CSS statements along side live preview.

VASSAL modules are created using VASAAL's GUI-based module builder and optional custom Java classes if needed. Modules run in desktop client app. To run the modules server-side as-is, I think you'll need to use a server-side JSwing framewor

BankSimple is not a bank. Think of them as a user-friendly GUI over a group of banks. As to where money actually gets deposited, it probably depends on which bank offers the best deal at any given time.

IMO, web startups choose Java when: 1) founders are most familiar with Java 2) founders are more comfortable with top-down engineering practices and not with bottom-up, release-early release-often approach. 3) core technology depends heavil
