Every time something like this comes out, I feel us taking a step away from "video camera mounted on a robot where the eyes should be" and a step toward real perception. I always wonder though, if a computer can one day recognize all differ

Also, I do not believe the knowledge of a specific need and the method of satisfying that need is what the startup sells. If that were the case, any big company could legally recreate what twitter or facebook does. Rather, I think the real

Like any strong company, Microsoft needs to acknowledge and act upon new trends, not theorize and hope that markets will adjust and have a space open for their Oldies-but-goodies products. If Microsoft wants to stay relevant, they need to h

I don't think this writer has much opposition to the sale of a company itself, but the attitude with which many founders are creating their companies. I think he's using recent results to establish that usual pretense for many startup is no

I'm not sure this guy is fully grasping the idea that Gladwell was pushing across. I don't think the point was that 10,000 hours is a magic number to strive for in order to become an expert (although he does say that persistently), rather h

The real difference I see between google and twitter is space and focus. Google had room on their clean results pages to place ads, and they also had users that were used to skimming and overlooking a lot of the text on the page anyway. Ads

I think this is cool and interesting, but we should approach these biological energy solutions with caution. Body-powered gadgets are the sort of thing every 8 year old imagines he or she can create and mass produce, but I think homeostasis

I don't think many venture capital firms work precisely in the way this man describes. VC's aren't stupid, and they wouldn't do anything to actively limit their scope of companies to invest in. Every VC looks around for fresh ideas. I think

I don't know if the EU is taking the right approach. I don't personally see how this kind of deadline will nudge anyone along. Perhaps it will let car manufacturers know that their Britain division will not do as well in 2050 if they do not

I always just assumed that evolutionarily, pain=bad for me and happy=good for me. It makes sense that emotional strife elicits actual pain, or it wouldn't help condition our minds to avoid sadness.

This is pretty interesting. It seems we struck gold with the invention of the internet if information is as important and fundamental as this author says it is. I am hesitant to buy in though, as I still see information as the thing which d
