Why is it bad to ask about the actual experience someone had with something that I will be hiring them for? That makes no sense to me.

I got a resume a while ago where the applicant rated their skills 1-5 stars. They has rated themselves either 3 or 4 out of 5 in Node.js. When asking what they actually did with node, they explained they built some proof of concept once. I

Late response, but maybe you'll still read it... We had some issues because there was no real security on the API of our NLP tooling. So we put NGINX in front of it to create a from of API key auth. NGINX would deny the larger messages

Well, in theory anyone can avoid bugs. It's just really costly and requires a very structured approach to doing anything. It's very unlikely, however, that you figure out every single combination of variables while writing tests.

I worked with a product for natural language processing that wanted the text in a query string. This led to 100+ page documents begin sent as a string in the request. My usual REST testing app would freeze up if I wanted to test some of the

After nearly 5 decades of declining traffic fatalities, the number has been increasing (at least in NL) for the past 3, with mobile use being one of the main drivers. I don't like surveillance everywhere, but I like people playing with

I sometimes joke that Elon could easily get rid of the people who are getting a free Roadster (through referrals) by sending them an evil version of Autopilot. It's a joke, but there's technically nothing that could stop him.

AFAIK, iPhone 11 isn't vulnerable to checkm8, so I don't think it's useful in this case.

I'm sure that's a factor, but it's also a bit cultural. Countries with the highest proficiency tend to use subtitles in stead of dubbing for foreign language movies. Because of this, you get much more familiar with other lang

From my experience, English has been mostly useless in these countries as far back as I can remember. Even in touristy Paris, there are plenty of places where nobody speaks a word of English and this gets even 'worse' when you ven

I work currently at one of the firms in my comment and it's not bad at all. Currently working on a really fun project too. It really depends on the firm and even the team within the firm.

I wrote 'big consulting', because there are many large consultancy firms that would be happy to hire anyone with FAANG experience. Capgemini, Accenture, Deloitte, PWC, etc. Many of them work with companies that are being disrupted

Maybe try consultancy at a large or medium firm? Gives you the opportunity to work on different projects to find out what you want, while also paying decently and giving you a stable basis.

There's also big consultancy, which allows you to see all kinds of companies, work on different types of projects and still have a bit of consistency at your firm. It's not for everyone, but if you value some consistency, decent p

I left my umbrella in an Uber in NYC once. I found the driver's number in the app and they were back a few minutes later and I got my umbrella back. This wouldn't have been so easy if it were a regular cab.
