Doesn't seem to cover Slack, I guess you'd do that by running one of the Slack to IRC gateways on a VPS and connecting to that using an IRC client.

I remember those days too, the lack of a good GUI toolkit felt like such a big deal. Funny that nowadays I find myself using applications that don't use a UI toolkit, Emacs (compiled without toolkit), st, mupdf, games that do their own

It's like the Eight Megabytes And Constantly Swapping joke for Emacs. These days a minimal Emacs is more like 18MB RSS rather than 8 but that's still tiny compared to modern apps.

That chapter was dumb even when it came out. X is awesome and it's amazing how well it has stood the test of time. I am not looking forward to the day when I won't be able to do half the things I do today with my EXWM setup becaus

That's not the case at all. Every process produces an exit status when it terminates and many things besides interactive shells use them. Pretty much anything that runs a subprocess should retrieve the exit status to see if the child p

That was indeed the case. A better use for it was running "telnetd" which was how we got root access to the device initially.

As a physical keyboard fan the Dream was awesome. Sure, the trackball was wonky, the multitouch sensor was limited and the screen resolution and RAM was very low by today's standards but it was a great start. And given that it was hack

Emacs has had SVG support for a while so you can get more than just ASCII art. See the svg-clock package on ELPA for example. This is what the code looks like: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/emacs/elpa.git/t

I don't use Dropbox so I am wondering, is this fundamentally different from storing everything in S3? Is it like a single S3 bucket? Or multiple buckets on the same account?
