Android, as a platform , is open. You can take the code and do with it what you want. However, if you want to provide the "Google experience" (Play Store, Gmail etc.) then you have to follow Google's rules - rules that are designed to keep

> Isn't that like saying if Compaq wanted to ship BeOS or dual boot machine, it could forgo getting the OEM incentives that Dell, HP etc. received from Microsoft? No, since BeOS is not claiming to be compatible with Windows. If they wan

Install Calibre and then follow the instructions here: http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/ If it's not DRM protected, but rather a "secure" PDF, you'll need some other tools that can remove the owner password. About.com has a list here:

No. The problem isn't that the jury wasn't smart enough (they may or may not have been), but that they had a foreman that was just a bit too smart.

I made a proof-of-concept implementation and, well, it works, but I suspect they're too difficult for many people. They can be made easier by emphasizing one of the colors in the letters, but that opens them up to more traditional attacks.

It should be possible to do this with an animated GIF. Do you have any references/examples I could use as a starting point?

A simple fix would be to add Consolas as the first font in the list. It looks almost the same as Inconsolata, comes standard with Vista/7 and newer versions of Office (including the "Viewers"), and looks good on both Windows and Linux.

It's not just you. The code snippets use Inconsolata which, in my experience, looks splendid on Linux and absolutely crap on Windows. Presumably he never looked at his site from a Windows computer.

Well, it wouldn't exactly be the first time Apple is inconsistent in the application of their own rules.

You can change the sensitivity in the settings (and of course, there's the usual mouse-speed setting as well). That said, I have found that some of the newer models have much more sensitive trackpoints than my T60. Edit: Changing the cap ca

I doubt watches will ever disappear. First of all, they're effectively the only piece of "jewellery" that men can legitimately wear in many situations. And, secondly, they tend to be a lot more efficient for knowing the time than a mobile,

Mercurial (Hg) with TortoiseHg might be a good option. You could even create a pre-configured PG version, to make it even easier for novices. Along with a guide on the basics, I think that could end up working quite well. Hg also has the be

Same thing here. Some fonts seem to do that (like the Helvetica that came with my printer driver - ugly internet for a while there) not sure why. I'm on XP using Firefox.

Just click the little down-arrow in the upper-right corner of a post, and you'll get various options for hiding posts and unsubscribing. This is, by the way, something that has been possible for quite some time now.

I suspect that Google will eventually do what Facebook did, and allow you to choose your own URL. With FB a standard profile link looks like facebook.com/profile.php?id=xxxxxxxx but can be changed to facebook.com/your.name.here

I believe this is actually the fault of Blogspot. It seems that Google has decided that doing everything in JS is the way to go.
