Really? Has the mobile market eclipsed the laptop and desktop markets already? I wonder if Apple's core business is now Macintosh or the iPhone.

I didn't grok git until I found out that it's just magic. --> http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~blynn/gitmagic/ I found that document rather more useful in getting me started than the official man pages. :)

They're not really analogous. You can get a copy of Windows and poke at it until you figure out exactly how it works. You could even theoretically disassemble the machine code. You can't, however, get your hands on a Google box (or cluster)

This article is ridiculous crap. At the end of the day, Google gives you their freakin' code , damn it. This means that if you're not happy with the way Google is running things, you can go ahead and fork your Chrome OS or Android. And if

If your fundamentals are sound, you should not have to fear. That said, you might want to pick up some non-Algol descended languages such as Lisp or Prolog, just to expose yourself to different programming paradigms. :)

Uh, it gets me spot-on in a lot of cases. The reason why stereotypes exist is because they're often true.

I subscribed for a while some time back, but I couldn't find an option for an online-only subscription and I started running out of space to put the dead tree versions, so I stopped. Do they have an online-only option?

I think you can be as sure about that as you are sure that writing a desktop application for MS Windows will run on most machines running Windows regardless of the underlying hardware.
