From their graph, looks like Gen X got screwed even as to the number of years their generation covers. Boomers and Millenials are both allotted 19 years, while Gen X only gets 13.

There are two issues here, and your post only addresses what Facebook is doing about one of them. The issues are: (1) The fact that the API went down for an extended period of time. The post addresses this issue. (2) The fact that, accordin

Perhaps you are right, but the studies seem to indicate that the level at which sugar becomes "excess" is very low, especially if the sugar does not contain fiber (i.e. apple juice rather than apples). Even a single soda is in excess of the

It's not dead. It is in fact used a lot more than ten years ago. I've yet to get a voice message that google voice was not able to decode sufficiently, and most of the transcribed messages have been 100% accurate. General speech recognition

I've actually found that if I speak slowly and clearly, the nexus one figures out exactly what I'm saying for more than 90% of the sentences. This is very useful, and much better than any voice recognition program I'd seen about ten years

There are quite a few 20 to 40 story high-rises in the area, all built in the past 15 years.

The hyperinflation of coastal real estate and the super-concentration of talent in these places is getting absurd and insane. The latter leads to the former.

It is certainly possible that the center of gravity may eventually shift to Portland and Seattle. However, I'm not sure what you mean by "unwillingness to build": Twitter, the main company in the story, is located in a repurposed warehouse/

Another advantage with the locations of Seattle and Portland in particular is that they're in the same time zone as Silicon Valley.

Speed is only one factor in their ranking. If a site is notably better than other sites for a query, they said in the article that it will still rank first for that query.

Obviously Apple needs to do that, or they're dead. But they do not appear to be able to threaten Google's core business the way that Google is able to threaten Apple's.

I'm going to guess that Apple is in the weaker (or at least more vulnerable) position, given that it was the first to resort to lawsuits. I'm not sure they really have an effective counter to Google entering the smartphone market.

Assuming an average lifespan of 70, that implies that an average citizen there now has about a 10% chance of dying by murder. Gruesome.

Bill Gates' original vision was "a computer on every desk, running Microsoft software". Once he more or less reached this goal, around the mid-90's, of course Microsoft stagnated. I'd say that Bill's real failure was to not accept this fa
