"either it is lawful or it is not" not really. things aren't really ever that clear cut. if they were, then being a lawyer wouldn't be quite a lucrative a business. considering the complexity of immigration law, "probably" and "maybe" are g

I took a class with the same title and it was fascinating. Unfortunately it didn't reach to far into the digital age, but it was just good to get a broad sense of the arguments before delving into any new writings on the subject. I also thi

I take this as people not understanding what the heck they are putting out for bid. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the last website they had was whipped together by some exec's kid. If they thought that his prices were high for PS

I don't understand the "not practical" sentiment. During the pursuit of my BA, I learned how to research, perform analysis, communicate, and most importantly how to rapidly switch contexts. I use those skills every day. I'm not saying that

So good, it has been posted before: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=103725 I do this because I found the comments in the other one useful, not to be a dick. It is a dick-move, though, but at least I'm honest.

Yeah, my work life can be described as a dark room, a huge monitor, and a fullscreen terminal running vim. Statistically it does miss a lot, but I was looking for a way to try and throttling my online mucking about. I haven't run out of "co

I'm willing to try out 8aweek for the simple reason is if I'm doing work, I'm running Linux. I liked RescueTime, for the little that I experimented with it, but when I'm running Windows I'm usually just messing about.

He was posting to his network of friends/subscribers and the columnist grabbed the thread and decided to show it to the world. Twitter is an odd medium, most people's audience is their friends, but then it is also a public forum. Like havin

gvim is the only thing that keeps me sane in windows. I have not tried this cream you speak of however. Just downloaded it though.

Even if it wasn't all within the software (which I would strongly doubt), the problem with safety and of complex systems is that the safer you try to make it, the more complex the system becomes and that in itself reduces the reliability an

There is one thing that PHP has going for it as a first language: You can do "cool" things with it almost immediately. It is like making an animated drawing back in the day in [whatever version of] Basic. Most into tutorials start "this is

So true about Madison. Great city when the temperatures are above, I don't know 25 degrees. I miss the angelic brewing co. and the farmers market. Oh, the crazy stuff you could find during moveout and the broom street theater is ridiculous.

Yeah, I've got to admit to being quite addicted. I like twitter and tumblr because they feel liberating in comparison to "blogging." I always felt like I had to craft and labor over what I want to say rather than just saying it. I'd rather

I don't think this necessarily applies just to machines. I know that when I am handed a resume the first thing I do is skim over it and preform the analog version of "searching for key words." If I see the words I am looking for, then I may

I just clicked it... :) I've resorted to using the rss feed to screen what seems like it would be worth wasting time on. It has helped, but today I'm in a terrible meeting and so I don't feel like I'm wasting too much time.
