If people are Facebook users or addicts, it means they're getting something from it. That something might not be good for them, but people aren't going to volunteer hours a day doing something that isn't providing value in some way. Faceboo

Isn't that just another way of saying, 'Illustrates how much tech adoption is driven by marketing'?

I recognize how important marketing is. What makes me curious, is why has accessibility done so much to help independent developers, but so little to help independent authors?

Why do we need publishers at all? If all it takes to make an ebook is the story itself, couldn't authors publish their own work directly to ebook distributors, without anyone else needing to get involved? My iPhone apps could have certainly

The problem Zynga has right now is that they're building a reputation as a 'not fun place to work' for engineers. This probably won't kill them, since their power comes from psychology more than technology, but it might hurt them.

Digital cameras didn't make amateurs worse, they just increased the amount of amateurs. And I'm sure it increased the amount of good photographers too, so I'm not sure what the complaint is here. If old cameras took better pictures, then I

This system and our current system face the same fundamental issue: how do you determine that a student has 'leveled up'? If what gives you 'experience' is flawed, it won't really matter whether a student is getting a level or a letter grad

This article reminds me of those weight loss infomercials: - In 'fat' mode, the video color is bad, and the person is frowning, sad. - In 'skinny' mode, the video color is clear, the person is smiling, and their complexion is better. This g

I was just pointing out that you don't need to know autorelease is used if you just know to retain anything that isn't a new/init/copy/etc. Also, you don't need to use autorelease, you can just have all your variables return copies. Obvio
