I think we're not yet at the point where supermarket-bought products are on par with price, but we are on par when it comes to restaurant/fast food chains. Every vegan/vegetarian food that I try from the likes of McDonalds is

Yeah, this is one of the reasons I decided against doing it this way. I also prefer the twitter UI to mastodon's default to be honest.

Shameless plug: I created a browser extension to help transition to Mastodon[0]. If you don't yet feel like you can leave twitter.com, but want to explore alternatives it's a great way to get started. Essentially it injects Mastod

I watched the first episode of 1899 and could see why it was cancelled. Just an amalgamation of mysteries that don't seem to have much connection. On the other hand, I also watched Wednesday and thought it was missing a lot of what mad

Great post. I hope we see a multitude of new clients for Mastodon. In the meantime, if you're someone like me that is dipping their feet into Mastodon but isn't ready to leave Twitter fully yet, then you might be interested in a b

The problem with supporting Firefox is that it doesn't yet support manifest v3. I know this support is coming, but seeing as Chrome right now disallows new extensions that don't use v3 it feels pretty delayed. It's also uncl

Funny to see this. I recently worked on a browser extension[0] to expand Twitter.com's functionality as well, specifically to connect it to Mastodon and show Mastodon posts amongst ordinary tweets. It was a lot of fun to build this, th

In case anyone is interested I made a browser extension which helps you transition to Mastodon. What it does is it injects Mastodon posts into your Twitter.com timeline so you can slowly but surely get exposure to more and more of the Fediv

I’ve done this recently. Essentially created a browser extension that combines Mastodon and Twitter on twitter.com. It works surprisingly well, but I’m guessing catching up with Twitter.com changes is bound to be painful. You can find it he

Picture frames are indeed perfect for this. I built something similar and the frame cost me around £37.50. My full BOM was around £130 (and that's without any economies of scale).

There are existing PCBs out there for driving HUB75 displays (like the one used in this project).

ESP32 is perfect for this application. RPI is far too beefy, unless you really want to do everything locally (without relying on an external server to package up the train data for you)

In 2020 I set out to build something very similar[0]. This was before I even knew NYCTrainSign existed. I started with zero electronics knowledge and learned a lot. My prototype has been running solidly for way over a year and while I'
