Because otherwise they couldn't hire a good CEO. Unless the shareholders and the board are making bad hiring decisions.

I agree that he is responsible. But his contract doesn't read, "if any big bad thing happens, we pay you $0!" That would surely be a great contract, but they would have a tough time hiring a CEO. By analysis, every landlord s

Totally fair response. Do you think the board failed to minimize the total financial impact, and that shareholders will now vote to replace most of the board seats? Shareholders run the company. Are we mad at the CEO, or mad at the sharehol

For all the people who scream at this as unjust -- what do you propose instead? I know your knee-jerk is "pay him $0!" But seriously. If you were on their board. You disregard his employment contract? You don't honor contrac

Yes I laughed reading that part because it followed her saying they made a lot of money. How embarrassing.

I recently had this experience: * Day 0: order a bunch of IKEA stuff with delivery * Day 15: get message saying all items ready for delivery, on Day 30 * Day 20: I call shipper and ask if we can reschedule for Day 37 -- no problem * Day 35:

Given the volume of data from ICE, $120/month is reasonable. I don't think they price data to profit from it -- just to ensure their systems are used by serious actors.

Market dynamics at work. Reminds me of Bukowski: Born like this Into this As the chalk faces smile As Mrs. Death laughs As the elevators break As political landscapes dissolve As the supermarket bag boy holds a college degree

That's interesting research, indeed. On the other hand, we and future generations will surely be working to reduce the CO2 levels.

You also seem to assume that societies continue to grow at an exponential rate while they simultaneously innovate. And I do not know what your talking about regarding tech progress. Are you kidding?

Are you assuming that the collective brain trust of that growing population will fail to innovate ways to feed themselves?

As a kid, I was taught in school that the world population was growing so fast that soon we wouldn't be able to grow enough food to feed everyone. But, here this article says we're growing an endless bounty of corn.

This article claims the secret to success is "trying new things." That's misleading because it implies that AMZN management doesn't have a strategic plan.

Are you saying that you think Gorman has actually invested in Bitcoin, but he lied because he didn't want to make it seem like he was touting his book?

I read the article, and I think the headline is misleading. I'd say an accurate headline is, "Gorman says 'Bitcoin sure is sumthin.'"

Personally, I don't want my typos corrected when I enter commands. I prefer the negative reinforcement to encourage fewer errors. I also don't mind an occasional error. Not hatin. Just wondering if I'm alone.

Not hating, but I was underwhelmed. There must be oodles of old NYC photos sitting in various old home photo albums out there. I hope some day they're all digitized and compiled into something like a VR experience. :-)
