This is why I use webpages instead of apps if possible. Firefox reader mode usually defeats not being able to select and copy.

For sure, but I probably naively think that those who have the gumption to take the back off a TV would know this. As a kid, I used to play with an old TV by connecting the second anode lead to a 50 ft extension cord and walk around our dam

Not me. Around here is spreading a 3-4% surcharge when paying with a card. Everything from a sandwich to car repair to rent. I still use cash and checks when necessary. Originally, cards were used to entice customers to a store with the p

I still have a pair of those Mach Two speakers in use in my garage. Can confirm that a cell phone can't sound like that and that driving them with a Phase Linear 400 playing Led Zeppelin II can really rock the block until an amp outpu

My GP tried to discontinue my yearly PSA test 5 years ago. I demanded the test anyway since there's a history of prostate cancer in my immediate family. So far, so good.

Ah yes, brings to mind a new engineer we hired in the early 90's with with an excellent academic record from a fine school introducing himself to the team by emailing everyone an obfuscated one-liner C program that did something cute.

Definitely not. Once I've used both hands, both elbows, and one foot, all that's left to employ is my head and face.

My dogs do this for me, minus the green box bit. They hear bugs, locate them, and focus on them until I do the rest, then they try to eat the remains.

It means how much I eat has a much larger effect than physical activity. I can eat more calories in 5 minutes than I can work off in two hours of brisk walking.

This is a discrete case of "sheet resistance."[1] The resistance between any two points, nodes in this case, is the same. We covered this in the EE uni curriculum back in the day, but I don't remember the solution derivation

You are very lucky to be able to eat like that without weight gain! The extra 200 calories would be more of the same, just bigger portions. I record everything by weight when eating at home, and have a good feel for calories per unit weight

For me, it's calories-in calories-out. I've been counting calories for two decades and learned a couple things about my particular case: - If I consume more than 2,300 kcal per day, I gain measurable weight in weeks. - If I consum

I've ripped hundreds of CDs and the metadata is usually ok on commercial discs. When ripping CDs I created from LP rips, I use Mp3tag to make it right.

A childhood memory is hearing Good Vibrations through a crystal radio using my bedframe as an antenna while in a hypnogogic state, supposed to be sleeping. It felt other-worldly.

I had a scrap industrial stack light set up in my office to indicate my busy/not-busy state. I never clicked it to red when someone was approaching, but in hindsight, it was still a bit obnoxious tbh.

Cool indeed, but this is my favorite cycle picture. [1] It's technically a tricar, but given the handlebar controls and lack of bodywork, I think it qualifies. The vehicle is a Mototri Contal practicing for the 1907 Peking to Paris r

I don't remember the details, but the function key shortcuts changed enough between WP4.2 and 5.1 to slow me down. May have been the first time I grumbled about a SW update breaking my workflow. Some things never change.
