The EO imposes a prohibition on financial transactions between US citizens (and probably also residents?) and ByteDance, so they wouldn't be able to pay their lawyers even if registered. So it's essentially a ban on having lawyers

   Very neat concept.

The claim isn’t a dispute about the legitimacy of the national security grounds, that will probably come later. The claim is that the EO prohibits retaining US lawyers, which is pretty clearly a violation of due process.

If orders like this are not overturned by the judicial system, then yes, it would be. But this order (or at least the lawyer-banning aspect) will be overturned because the US is not a totalitarian state.

I think this is an excellent suggestion, assuming the post office survives an ongoing calculated attempt to cripple and privatize it. Routing digital payment requests to bank addresses is a natural extension of the responsibility of routing

The distinction is less important at Google, where all of the code is in a monorepo and all of the infrastructure was custom-built to support the products.

This is really the core of it. If you run the numbers, Google makes something like $1 million of profit per year for each engineer at the company. If a product has a 10-person engineering team and isn't bringing in $40 million /

All Google services are banned, IIRC. And the legality of anticompetitive practice is hardly a justification. This executive order is, after all, entirely legal.

Not really. AWS would like to run a datacenter business in China the way they do everywhere else in the world, but that happens to be illegal in China. Only Chinese companies are permitted to run datacenters. This seems like an exact parall
