Hmm, but there are ways of streaming video that don't have traditional Play/Pause/etc. buttons. If there's no way to turn it off, how can Chrome "learn my preferences"? Maybe it can sense me swearing? Not a Chr

In the past a Cloudflare representative typically appears in these threads, and if that's happened, I missed it. Not to mention the MVP's comment in the locked Cloudflare thread that "You should use an up to date major browse

In concept that's a good idea, but the fingerprinting potential is VAST: user-agent, TLS, JavaScript quirks, CSS, Canvas, proprietary features like Chrome's Topics, maybe WebGL, WebUSB, etc. In practice it's very hard to do.

If you're thinking of Google's WEI, I'm thankful that went down in flames: "Google is adding code to Chrome that will send tamper-proof information about your operating system and other software, and share it with websit

On one hand, I'm okay with that. If Cloudflare or some other self-appointed Internet cop blocks me from a site, I just go somewhere else, and I hope the site goes out of business as a result...which happens to businesses everyday for a

Newbie questions: How do you debug an interpreter when you aren't coding for it directly? How far does fuzzing strings of opcodes get you? How much practical difference is there between a server side WASM engine and a browser-based one

Early fall 2023 it certainly feels like I caught Verizon discriminating against Firefox. It was a CSS issue in their payment portal where some information wasn't rendering as a DHTML popup but at the bottom of the page. You could still

I've rolled my eyes for years over when this sort of thing would happen for real: "score 3000 points at Pac Man and maybe we'll let you view our web site". +1 for the technical achievement, but I turn and run at Cloudf

I wrote a Zork-style text game in high school as an end-of-year project on a TRS80 model III, using its built-in BASIC. There were three stages of the game, and all was going well until I ran out of RAM. :( Stage 1 was complete, though. For
