Agreed. I made a comment about this about another article a few weeks back that went too heavy on the visual story telling. Yes, it's cool that it looks like a magazine and all, but very difficult to focus on and hold the narrative. Se

The argument for switching to Firefox seems weak. I don't doubt there are very solid reasons to do so, however the author's argument comes down to "I, personally, just trust this one more, and I'm lazy and don't wan

Perhaps, but the comment is written from the consumer's perspective. Thank you for the insight, though.

Clarification. What is the steam tax you speak of? I understand when people use the term 'Apple tax' (for example), they're referring to a premium price on a premium product and the follow up premier prices that come with it.

And thanks to the outline link, I was able to read the article to conclusion. Very powerful and very interesting.

I don't feel like it makes reading interactive, so much as it makes reading laborious. Regardless of the quality, context, or merit of the picture, it's still a large, obtrusive break in the narrative. Paragraph, paragraph, paragr

Even on desktop I find this style of presentation distracting. It looks cool, I get it, but it doesn't feel conducive to story telling to break up the text with a screen filling image every N paragraphs.

As an aside, this very proposed scenario makes me wonder how many users with more casual image editing requirements PaintDotNet has taken from Photoshop.

> open source the famous and non interesting parts of its products. I appreciate you're probably referring to things such as the Windows kernel (just for an example), but this reads like an oxymoron. :)

While I, as a rule, try not to stand against good storytelling, I clicked far too many times while thinking "get to the point" before I just closed the tab.

I'll happily come to C#'s defense. I enjoyed working in C#. I miss working in C#. But I don't see much of this purported bashing and I don't see that it needs defending, really.

Exactly! It'd be different if the heading said "A Camera Lens Made from a Part of an Iceberg". But as it stands, I went in hopeful that an entire 'berg would be used in some creative or ingenious way.

Yeah, the title is a bit click-baity. I too was expecting some interesting experimental imagery where an entire iceberg was used as a lens, either literally or metaphorically.

Yep. When the atmosphere is being pushed hard as an asset, that tells me they're padding to make up for other deficiencies. Like everyone's first resume.

That's cool. Know what else would be cool and probably get more use? Fixing bugs, improving performance on large documents, and bringing the feature set more up to date.

Yep. A few years back I tried out a handful of new apps, or at least new at the time. Two have folded, the third merged with another service and offers very basic backward compatibility. While I'm not a huge fan of Office, and I think

If you're going to hop a fence to take a shortcut to your friend's house to play Mario Party after your last winter exam, check how deep the snow on the other side is first.

I really hate the tradition that Tales-From-Tech, etc. need to be overtly smug and condescending. Cut the attitude, tell a story, impart a lesson.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. Given that cloning an animal doesn't recreate the personality - same goes for Humans, of course - if you miss your beloved Rex, there's zero guarantee you'll get another Rex if you clone him, which sor
