People like to be outraged and outrage generation makes for good clickbait. The only reason I’m interacting on this post is because I feel a mild sort of outrage about the author’s mild outrage. And I feel like a bit of a sucker because of

With Big Sur I finally did my first fresh install of macOS since Jaguar (10.2). It took me an entire weekend and while it’s nice to have a clean out I think I’ll just do a time machine restore when I finally get an M1 Mac.

To be fair that first gen iPad is too slow to browse the web at all unless it's a really lean site like HN.

I can't fathom why and how any company owners would allow HR departments to wield such power.

Yeah it's true that they generally won by small margins, but they also won the 2008 and 2012 Euros. I enjoyed watching them :) edit: Who do you think is going to win Champions League this year?

It sounds like this guy helped you out of a tough situation and I can understand why you've struggled to say no to him. But just because he helped you out doesn't mean he owns you until the debt is paid.

It sounds like they didn't pay anything and that you didn't sign anything. If this is true then you owe them nothing. Why haven't you told them to fuck off? >If I took his offer and not theirs they would see it as me cutti

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree because in my opinion it was an officiating fiasco. De Jong avoiding a straight red with his kick to the chest without an attempt on the ball is a total fiasco. The referee allowed the game to ge

My memory of that is so different. I remember an outclassed Dutch team basically trying to cheat their way to victory through dirty play. It would have been a massive injustice had Spain not won.

I've not played Morrowind or Oblivion but I've played the other three in the series and a similar mechanic exists in Skyrim as well, although it's not possible to do it in the early game. If I remember correctly you make a po

I've just checked on my iPhone and exposure notifications were only using 3% of battery. I've turned on my wireguard which connects to a pi-hole and I'll report back tomorrow.

I was always a dog person until I moved in with my partner who has cats. Having never lived with cats before I was amazed at how good they are at communicating with humans. Based on how they vocalise I know if they are asking for food, trea

I don't assume that it does, but the performance issues with Electron are widely acknowledged, as is the the fact that MS seems to have done a great job with VSC despite that.

It looks really useful and the rationale behind using Electron makes sense, but I really dislike using non-native macOS apps. Still, I suppose it's better than not being able to run it at all. Good luck with the project!

When it’s considered normal for Congress to vote for laws that they haven’t read because the laws are so verbose that it wouldn’t be practical I don’t hold out much hope for the sanity you are suggesting.
