My parents had a dryer they bought in 1947 and my dad kept it running until the mid 1990s, so about 50 years. My dad replaced the bearings about every ten years and I think had to replace a switch once. I believe it was from Sears.

I don't think this guy understands what research is and what it's good for. He even says that the AT&T Research Group "were not used to create commercial software and AT&T has never been in the software business"

Seems unlikely. Wouldn't a completely fake entry with random numbers make more sense than a duplicate?

I wrote code professionally for 40 years before retiring. Toward the end I was also doing a lot of non-code crap but I always resisted the push toward any kind of management. I am quite happy at how my career turned out.

I hosted web sites at my house on the cheapest Comcast service from about 2002 to 2016 and never once had a problem. It's possible things have changed, but a ddos attack does cost money and I think it's mostly the large or controv

See if your cable modem has a pass-through mode. This disables the NAT, DHCP, etc and passes the IP address of the cable side of the modem through to one of the ethernet jacks. Then you plug your own router in to that and do your own NAT, D

I had a Panasonic TV about ten years ago that refused to play any content off my home server unless it could talk to its own servers over the internet first.

I don't think that's cut & paste, I think it's dodge & burn. It's something you do while printing a negative that emphasizes the subject, in this case the man, and de-emphasizes the background. I was a news photo

He should read up on steering geometry in general. The wheel axis always needs to be offset from the pivot axis or the steering will be unstable. Take a look at your bicycle and you'll see that the axle of the front wheel is at an offs

Well sure, but if you're worried about traffic analysis you've got bigger problems. The difference here is that if you relay through your ISP they can read the contents of your messages. If you don't, they can't.

Where I live in Mexico nobody owns a printer. Instead there is a print shop on almost every street corner. You walk in, print wirelessly from your phone or laptop, or hand them a USB drive, and they hand you your prints made on an expensive

That's a non-standard use of the term "food store." Kroger is a food store, Qdoba is a restaurant. And it's a bit misleading to show a photo of some other restaurant's food. I would expect the photo to show food fro

You are correct. The max charging rate of the battery is independent of its voltage, and runs around 2.4 C (Tesla) to 2.8 C (Porsche). You only get this max rate for the first 20% or so of SOC (state of charge). One way to think about this
