An example I ran into recently is Far Cry 3. It's not that old either. It has a coop campaign that's now unplayable due to server disrepair. Invitations to lobby do not work.

Could a rogue SSD move things around in your filesystem? If so, couldn't it install a rootkit? Either way, it's not just about backdoors. A blob is like a car that you cannot perform maintenance on. You want to be able to fix bugs

I'm hopeful that open processors like RISC will be a big step in solving this. But, then there will still be all that other blob-y, closed hardware like SSDs, network cards, radios. In my humble opinion, there's something wrong wi

You might be missing a change in index: `obj[0].prop` vs `obj[1].prop`. Or, your JSON might have the same property defined multiple times: `{a:1, a:2}` (though I'm not sure how gron handles that situation).

Bug! Badges have descriptions in the title attributes on the <li> elements, but <li>s contain <img>s which also have an accessibility title and that's what gets displayed (on my Firefox 91.0.2), so I have to look at h

I'd be surprised if this question could have an off hand answer. Doesn't sound like something that could have scalability predictable enough to do back of the envelope calculations on.

Better clients can periodically change between random ports and use encryption. I would expect such a client to require a pretty specific search to be discovered. What we can't really protect from is someone watching the global P2P tra

I'm a newby in these topics. I'm pretty sure that bittorrent has worked in ipv6 for a long time now; actually, I find it unintuitive that it would care whether one or the other is used. Also, doesn't bittorrent work fine with

Not OP, but I'd say the problem is that someone, doesn't matter if it's the manufacturer, can disable your device remotely or that he has access to it at all.

I remember reading the Market Wizards books and this would come up often in the interviews. Some felt strongly about it, some didn't think much of it. It depends on the person.
