I would guess that if income inequality is high and mobility is impossible people may consider other options. If there is no chance that they can earn a better way of life they may band together and take it. It's not like these things

Just one bit of evidence to the contrary. I have filled the 70 litre tank in a 1.6tdi VW Passat and driven 1400 km with 5 occupants and luggage. This was mainly European motorway driving.
