I’d recommend people give it a try - if only to see what some properly different thinking looks like about what a browser could be. There are some really interesting UI things going on in Arc, and if all it does is makes you go “oo, interes

Ace, yes - I fiddle with Ableton a lot so know this space a bit - loads of amazing stuff, and you're right, typically the UI's are doing exactly what I'm looking for - thanks!

Came here to say this. Mother in law had a PC and a whole bunch of old Android tablets. I'd get a phone call about once a week asking some kind of support question. When everything melted down and the PC got too old I got her to buy an

Many, many museums release their collections databases as open API’s, and many of the artworks are licensed under open licenses. That’s not to say they couldn’t do more - but it’s a very active area in many museums.

We got employed by a very rich and very eccentric retired businessman to help create an online exhibition for his collection of antique items. I won't mention what the items are, but think historically significant, extraordinarily rare

I liked Oliver Burkeman on this with his “too many needles” idea [0]. Personally, I hoard a bunch of stuff using Omnivore and then on a semi regular basis I go through that and just throw away 90% of it. I find this two stage process useful

This sort of gamification is so widespread. It makes perfect sense to me in some areas, but in others (reading being one), it doesn’t at all. Reading is so personal and so important to savour, that the idea of “getting through the book” jus

Have a +1, I’m with you all the way. Of course, brace yourself for downvotes: this is HN, so by default WordPress will get voted down and so will anyone who says not to use JS as a front end :-)

Have an upvote, but more seriously - there seems little point in suggesting a method of exercise (however great it might be) that literally no one is going to take up because you look like a loon doing it…

The fact that beef is being positioned as “safe” given the massive, massive environmental impact of production - not to mention the fairly compelling direct evidence that red meat is bad for you - is a little hilarious, I’d have thought? Se

I suspect it’ll get me downvoted but this newish trend of using this grammar syntax drives me nuts. It’s “YouTube now requires YOU to” not “YouTube now requires to”. It’s lazy, it’s grammatically incorrect and it doesn’t scan.

I think it’s the balance of being “just markdown” on one hand - you can literally just point it at a folder and start typing; and the fact that it’s incredibly extendable on the other. The better known plugins like DataView give you really
