No, you don't have to, but we take security very very seriously. However, we are not a covered entity in the eyes of HIPAA, but we do go above and beyond their guidelines for storing and transmitting patient data.

I'm curious. Does hosting with Amazon imply EC2? Or S3 static files? Or some other form of hosting I am unaware of?

I'd add a quick section for a basic iptables setup as well, with holes for the appropriate services.

Developers should know going in, that there is a huge risk in getting your app approved. It's unfortunate that there are tangential casualties like this, but, again, this risk should be well understood going into development.

I can't speak for everyone, but in regard to CS, I, and many of my colleagues, learned most of our trade from books, experience, and each other. I never really found much utility for lecturers in CS classes in college. I learned just as wel

Notice I said, "at the end of the day." I certainly didn't mean to trivialize the task. Only to say that you can build a web app (and certainly some already exist) the could "kill" the traditional EMR systems. I'm well aware of the complexi

By iteration, I mean one loop of my algorithm. I'm not brute forcing. There are a few other calculations I'm doing in addition to the hamming distance and the hash. I'm relying heavily on the random characters you get to append.

Hamming distance? Lowest looks like 31, and I've seen a bunch around there, but to save on iterations it's only dumping out every 1 million comparison, or ones less than 20. What's notable is that my average is in the mid 30s. Seems like th

There are a lot of industries the Net should 'kill.' Take health care technology for example. At the end of the day electronic medical records are just getting data in/out of a system. The Net, or the web, is great at this. You can make thi
