I agree with this rant but with the caveat that its not digital -v- analog but a fundamental failure to comprehend that AI is an epistemological problem not a technological problem.

Yes, a very high bar indeed. In the broad sweep of history the printing press led to a revolution in science, technology and ultimately the Industrial Revolution. Moreover, as Shirky mentions, it destroyed the monolithic political and socia

This is a long winded version of Clay Shirky's article from 2009 "Newspapers and Thinking the Unthinkable". Shirky's site is down so here is an alternative link; http://edge.org/conversation/newspape

Why should we believe anything the govt now says regarding spying or these hacks? They have totally lost all credibility in my view and have made no effort to make amends and continue to rationalize unconstitutional spying. What about Clap

I agree these are questions for a tax pro. Also, I think the gift tax and rules are different for related vs non-related parties. If you pulled $100K in "gifts" from a Kickstarter project I'd bet the IRS would rule that as in

I hope the FTC doesn't try to enforce consumer laws on an investment site. In the article they even refer to the contributors to the game as "consumers" which I think is a mistake. Anyone contributing to a Kickstarter projec
