Great organizations are wonderful when they're effective at supporting the product or service. With a startup, it's hard to know the organizational size required because you usually aren't even sure of the size of the market. Some companies

Microsoft does have a license to customize the ARM architecture, so maybe they are planning some x86 compat layer. It's an interesting technical challenge but what business problem does it solve for Microsoft? This lets them run Windows on

If Microsoft ported Office/SharePoint to native ARM I might be able to believe this.

If this is true, then Windows 8 is not a true successor to Windows 7. Current desktop/server apps assume binary compatibility with x86. This sounds much more like a scaled-up version of Windows Phone.

Going in with this attitude is not good at all. I'd say don't become obsessed with DRY, because in the beginning it often won't be clear when it's appropriate to "fork" portions of the code versus adding a branch or two to the core logic. B

TortoiseGit has been working fine for me, no crashes or problems. They've done a pretty good job of taking the most common scenarios and making them easy to do, even for a Windows user. (And I say that as a Windows user:)

Do the devs already know git, or will it be a new experience for them? No matter what tool(s) you use, learning to use git effectively will be the hardest part. I use TortoiseGit integrated into Windows Explorer for most stuff, and drop dow

Even most casual developers can afford $200 for a Windows license to run on VMWare. Contrast that with testing Mac software in VMWare with a Linux or Windows host -- we can't legally do it because it's against Apple's license.

So sad, because that could have been the DLL's finest hour. A lot of code uses ATL. Imagine if Microsoft had been able to update a few ATL DLLs and close the hole for every app written to dynamically link to ATL. Instead, the dynalinkers
