Just for context for the reader, "free range meat" costs orders of magnitude more to make and takes so much more room that if industrial farming had to move to free range, I doubt most people could afford it more than once in a bl

Little pushback here - metaphors are great tool to understand something, and can convey some meaning more efficiently than other means. But "the map is not the territory"!

I like JXL better than Jpeg XL - if it is brought to the masses I can imagine "jexel" to replace "jaypeg"

I understand! It's just that I never had to download Discord for anything. I agree it's difficult. I've had success showing keybase to people because of how barebones simple it is - but it's not a solution for everything

May I ask, what compels you to use discord if it's not voluntary? It's absolutely impossible to use keybase or signal?

The term load bearing always bring to my mind the breakdown of how the towers failed during 911 - especially how the plane cutting a lot of vertical steel beams redistributed the weight of the building onto other beams that were not rated t

My reasoning is that it's actually backwards. So this is a systemic issue, where the people actually impacting the problem are at the top of compagnies, governement and international regulators. That's where any change can happen

Your AC use is nothing compared to shops and malls running AC outside of work hours. Do not live in discomfort for nothing. Buy an AC, get comfortable, and if this is a real issue to you, sit down and think long and hard about how best to a

The point of the article is that it's very difficult to have an objective transparent answer. Client and seller are guessing the value, so trying to remain as loe as possible is just bad practice.

I'll keeo looking, but for starters, Earths magnetic field is between 0.25-0.65 gauss - for scale. I think the spin period means it revolves fully in 1.03 second while earth takes 24h. Edit: I'm sorry - 1.03 second between every p

If someone is testing themselves to make sure they will not spread it, they expect a level of certainity higher than the subjective "feel sick" - say you're visiting grandma who has asthma, and you take the bus everyday. I&#x

Stating it like that is probably a good way to chat with your managers about having less meetings. The idea that a 30 min meeting racks 700-2000$ per meeting is kinda nuts!

The point of the test is to tell the carrier if they should isolate to slow the spread - if you're asymptomatic today, take the test, get a negative, go to work for the week, it's as if you didn't do the test. It's not t

Cinematic taste came a long way since - I don't think most people were even aware of the cuts back then. The Taken movies have a lot to do with that!
