I would refrain from buying the house until 2-3 years into the transition and after you reach a point where you are cash flow positive in your new life. Ditto about the car loans if they are low interest rate ( < 3%). In short put the 1M

Thanks for sharing your notes - I was impressed with the rigor and the effort you have put into understanding the codebase.

This seems like it would attach a small niche of loyal users but my concern would be the following - a. Size of the market b. I imagine the target market for these would be fairly technical people who might be under the impression (rightly

He could have rewritten the last sentence from "They just seem to have lost any interest in making one that runs MacOS." to "They just seem to have lost any interest in MacOS.".

Sad fact is that Mac sales are now 10% of Apples revenue. I think the only reason Macs receive any attention at all within Apple is because you need Macs to build iphone/ipad apps. Another way of framing this is - how much effort do yo

I agree with large parts of what you are saying - the law of scarcity does not apply to software. As a free software advocate however there are a lot of subtle questions to which I have no answer, listing them here in case others can chime

Is it possible that the market for software developers is larger than the fpga developer market hence allowing tool development costs to be amortized over a larger set of users.

Well if Threadripper 2 can do 32 cores at ~4GHz@250W is there a good reason we cant have an Epyc SKU that does the same? (So that we can take two of these and put them in a machine).

"We are not aware of any abuse by these companies." - seems to be carefully worded. They do not make claims that there are no abuses, nor do they elaborate what checks/audits they have in place to detect abuse.
