I think there is an insidiousness to our language that can help to stabilise social discrimination, and most of us (white/black, male/female) are unaware of it. Dark mode doesn't have negative connotations. A 'blacklist

Yes, underfunding education is the real root of the problem as it hampers the democratic process later on.

Great. The linux desktop environment benefits greatly from a profitable backer... congrats to Mark Shuttleworth, and all the ubuntu team making it happen.

As a healthcare worker who also has an interest in programming - why does this comment not surprise me in HN? If a worldwide pandemic doesn't make you reflect on problems in our societal structure - that our key workers are the most p

Capacity of testing is a major issue, and as cases increase, turn around goes down. Tests have to be used where they will be useful and influence management.

I know it seems unfair to hold Bill Gates forever unable to atone for those business practices, and I applaud him for what he is doing now. However, I still think microsoft was a net loss to society.

I know lots of people here need mac hardware, but it always surprises me just how many fans of macs and macosx are here. For me Thinkpads combined with linux is a great computing experience. I love the unification of package updates and i

Linux is standard these days for rendering AFAIK. For the actual graphics/modelling part, I think Linux and Windows are often both used. Maya runs on Linux for example.

I agree - R has performant and robust dataframe functions. dplyr is great for small-medium sized datasets, data.table seems to be really performant for larger sets.

The evidence isn't strong for it either. The randomised controlled trials have very small n-numbers, are unblinded, have subjective primary outcomes. Needs a big trial to convince people it works.

This sounds a bit alarmist. So the chief medical officer of the company is also the editor-in-chief of the journal they publish in? And the paper is about the rapid release of tylenol, not about the cancerous effects of ranitidine? Bear i
