I like this! More and more, I think about making my CSS sheets element only and moving more complex "component" styles into JavaScript. This makes me attempt to find semantic HTML representations of components before coming up wit

Basically saying any valid-format JSON is valid JS as well. But JSON doesn't have any programming features (or the nice things like non-quoted keys/trailing commas)

Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. The lesson on the surface is that you need to practice/work to become good at anything, but the deeper message for me was that everything is basically preordained. People are acting based on what's lo

Any support for Stylus? I see it supports SugarSS, which I had not heard of, and that looks sort of close...

I don't particularly care for pull to refresh, given how frequently I refresh without meaning to because of it, but I do wish I didn't have to open the dropdown menu to get a refresh button to refresh the page.

Copyright length has been increased several times over the past century, so before any copyrights can expire, they get extended. "Oddly enough", each time, the extensions "coincidentally" tend to happen right before the

Jesus Christ, what the fuck is the point of having a security guard at a school if they aren't obligated to protect those inside? They say exceptions to the "in custody" rule exist, such as a crosswalk guard being responsible

For anyone looking for a simpler recap of the event, there's been a 4-part series running at Deadspin that has been an awesome read for me. The last part covering the last 4 matches is here https://deadspin.com/armagedd

Cool article, but isn't the point of a palette that you limit your options so it's easier to pick a color and the colors on your site are more consistent? This article suggests every palette should have 6 colors and 9 shades for e

I can see this, but I feel like it would depend on the person. Some people constantly learn and improve as they grow older and those people become wise as their life goes on. Other people just do not ever learn, so why would they be wise wh

Why not approval voting? It's much easier to explain to people and is way more compatible with the current system. You simply approve of any number of candidates, and the candidate with the highest number of approvals wins. Maybe in pr

The purpose of the change is to move away from a two-party system, where people are forced to vote red or blue, because green and grey are too small to have a real chance. Only making the change within parties wouldn't fix that at all.

As a Pittsburgher living in Seattle for the past few years, hearing this gives me hope. I know NIMBY isn't the best philosophy, but I make an exception for Amazon, who I think has done a number on Seattle and its culture.

I remember the author, Richard Davey, was super helpful on the flixel forums back in the day (the AS3/flash game engine), so I have no doubt that Phaser must be a high quality project!

Glad to see that adding properties to functions will be easier now. I've been tripped up by that a few times before, and was always surprised at how painful it was to type such a relative common JS pattern.

Would using defer instead of async fix this issue? The latter allows the page to continue parsing, but will still run as soon as it's loaded (possibly before the rest of the page is parsed). The latter always waits until the page is fu
