Some people are kept in solitary for their own protection. People who hurt children tend not to make it long in prison. I went to high school with a kid who murdered both of his parents, and he was put in solitary mostly for his protection.

I remember visiting India as a kid with my family, and one of my cousins telling me about an America TV series that was banned. I didn't think much of it at the time, but as I've grown older, I've really come to appreciate th

I always used bob@bob.bob. It's not a real TLD (although at the rate of new TLDs, it might be soon) but it still validated on most websites.

Both this article and the original post talk about the different "strains" of CoV2. I thought there were no real strains; and that the L/S strain reports from earlier weren't correct?

I use to live in NZ. At times I wish I had stayed because at least they've been out of this, but it's also an isolated island with ~4 million people. Even though they've mostly had elimination (with one re-lockdown due to Auc

If you know how, or are a serious youtuber and have the money to pay for IT people, setup a PeerTube instance. There are scripts that will copy your YouTube or Vimeo library to a PeerTube instance: https://battlepenguin.com/

I replaced my haproxy setup with Traefik and it works pretty wonderfully. The LetsEncrypt integration works really well. I don't really have any interest in plugins personally, but this is still quite an amazing project.

The first year of Chrome's release, I absolutely hated it, not because of the browser itself, but because it felt like a shot to the gut of Firefox and open source development in general.
